AAUP Wins a Major Victory to Protect Your Salaries and Rights – UMDNJ out of Compliance with Labor Law
On September 24, 2009, the Public Employees Relations Commission (“PERC”) ruled in favor of an AAUP complaint filed on your behalf, finding that UMDNJ violated New Jersey’s Public Sector Labor Law when it unilaterally reduced the clinical components (patient service and faculty practice) of faculty salaries. PERC ordered UMDNJ to negotiate over such reductions as a condition precedent to any proposed reduction. This is a significant ruling that serves to protect your salary and sends a strong message to UMDNJ that it cannot modify any term and condition of your employment without negotiating with the AAUP. AAUP will monitor and ensure the University complies with this decision.
